Sarojini Naidu

It is a folk song of the palanquin bearers, sung while carrying a newlywed bride. This poem appears in Sarojini Naidu’s The Golden Threshold (1905).

Sarojini Naidu’s “The Bird Sanctuary” appears in her 1917 poetry collection The Broken Wing. It is about the serene musicality of nature.
